Based on traditional Greek culture, marrying on February 29th is unlucky, and it is said to often lead to divorce. But, in this case, who cares about traditions when both parties are head over heels in love?
History Behind the Bachelor Star and His New Wife
JJ proposed to his now-wife back in January of 2019 while on vacation in Hawaii. They started dating in 2017 after they met on Instagram in 2015. They immediately connected, and both parties felt as if they had known each other for years.
Before their wedding, JJ announced his engagement to Kayla through an Instagram post. In it, he stated that he couldn’t wait to marry his best friend and the woman that has made him better since the first day they met.
Kayla, who is an ex-NFL cheerleader, also posted the engagement news on Instagram, mentioning that she said “yes” to the man of her dreams and can’t wait for the wedding.

JJ has mentioned in the past that he always had a suspicion that he would marry Kayla.
An Intimate Wedding Ceremony
The wedding was in Denver, and the newlyweds were joined by their family, friends, and their close loved ones. These include fellow Bachelor contestants and now friends, Tanner and Jade Tolbert, as well as Jared Haibon and Ashley Laconetti Haibon.
During his time on The Bachelorette and The Bachelor in Paradise, JJ may not have been able to find love. Still, he definitely found it later on with Kayla.
