When we fall in love, we often imagine a “forever” with the person, but it is rarely as simple as that. Often, other people get involved in the picture – causing many people to leave their partners as they pursue new love interests. Celebrities are not immune to these romantic desires either. For them, much like ‘ordinary’ people, sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. We’ve taken a look at some of the celebrity relationships that began as an affair, and we’ve got the scoop on how it all started.
Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn
Let’s start with a weird one. The celebrated director Woody Allen was in a relationship with the actress Mia Farrow when he met Soon Yi-Previn. How? Soon-Yi was Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter.
Soon-Yi claimed that Allen pursued her, and the couple went public in 1992 – making the headlines of numerous tabloids. The same year, in August, Woody Allen proclaimed his love for Previn. The two married in Venice in 1997, and they have remained together ever since.
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott
While filming the Lifetime TV movie Mind over Murder in 2005, the two co-actors began a romantic affair the very first day. Both of them were married – Tori Spelling to Charlie Shahnaian, and Dean McDermott to actress Mary Jo Eustace.
Having fallen in love during the making of the movie, the actors split up with their respective partners. They married each other in 2006 in a tropical wedding in Fiji. Spelling is the mother to five of McDermott’s kids, and also the stepmother to McDermott’s only son with Mary Jo Eustace.
Kelsey Grammer and Kayte Walsh
Known for popular TV shows like Frasier and Boss, actor Kelsey Grammer did not have an easy love life. He has been married four times in his life – the latest of which was to the film producer Katye Walsh. When Grammer first began seeing Walsh, he was still married to the television personality Camille Grammer.
However, Kelsey and Camille differed greatly in interests, and Kelsey moved on to Kayte. Kayte claims that she is “not proud” of how the relationship began, but it seems to have worked out, as they are still married after eight years.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck
When it comes to critical acclaim or popularity, the movie Gigli was a total disaster. The action-comedy had a shockingly bad rating of 6% on Rotten Tomatoes, but the one thing that did come out of it was Ben Affleck and Jeniffer Lopez’s relationship.
They met during the filming of Gigli when J.Lo was still married to Cris Judd. However, Affleck and Lopez’s lifestyles violently clashed with each other, and their romance was extremely short-lived. They did get engaged, but called off the wedding soon after in 2003.
Rupert Sanders and Kristen Stewart
The romance of the talented actors Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson was no secret in Hollywood. The two fell for each other during the making of the cult Twilight films. However, during the filming of Snow White and the Huntsman in 2012, Stewart and Sanders’ affair was caught on camera by paparazzi.
This led to Stewart and Pattinson splitting up, and also the divorce of Rupert Sanders from actress Liberty Ross. Sanders and Stewart dated for a short while until 2013, but they broke up eventually as well.
Debra Messing and Will Chase

The two married each other in 1999, and they have two sons and a daughter together. The relationship didn’t catch much interest in the tabloids though, as both Seinfeld and Sklar were tight-lipped about their affair. Jerry later said that the true story was not nearly as interesting.
